The Shark Nebula is part of a vast nebula complex that stretches 25 light-years across and is 670 light-years from Earth. LDN1235 is actually the dark nebula that makes up the shark's eye. The complex also contains two reflection nebula, vdB149 and vdB150, located at the top and bottom of the shark's head. Galaxy PGC67671 is visible at the center of the image, just above the shark.
