NGC2359 Thor's Helmet Nebula
NGC2359 is an emission nebula located 12,000 light-years from Earth stretching 30 light-years across. It consists of ionized gases excited by central star WR7, an extremely hot star about 300,000 times brighter than our Sun, possibly in a pre-supernova stage. The blue-green color indicates a high concentration of OIII. North is to the left.
